Arnold gambles

Expect Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger to ask legislators next week to lease the California Lottery to private operators in order to plug gaping holes in his revised state budget.

Is this what Californians expected when they elected the guy who promised to “blow up the boxes” and return fiscal sanity to the Capitol? We doubt it.

“…I will recommend to go and be creative and look for revenues because we have the lottery out there,” the Gov told reporters today. “We really can produce much more money for the state, for education and other areas.”

Somewhere along the line this train left the track. The Schwarzenegger choo choo is chugging along looking for “more money” when we thought the destination was to quit spending so much of it. Silly us. Looks like we’ve been taken for a ride. And now he wants to gamble. What next?
