More obnoxious, unnecessary government quasi-police action

Ever wonder why taxes are so high and government “servants” so numerous? Here’s a partial explanation:

The beauty shop police surprised Orange County beauty salons over the weekend, writing $54,600 in citations to 15 Santa Ana shops, alone.

We bet you don’t feel much safer now that unlicensed finger-nail clippers and hairdressers have had their come-uppance. As the Register reports today:

“The weekend sweep was aimed at finding unlicensed salons and workers, said spokesman Kevin Flanagan, but if other health and safety violations were found, those were cited too. The salons that were cited and the amount of the fines are…”

We find it wonderfully ironic that the finger-nail-clipping police admit the essential folly of their efforts:

“A license isn’t a guarantee of great service, but at least the consumer will know the operators have had some training.”

Now there’s an essential police duty for the state. Busting unlicensed hairdressers who haven’t been trained to the satisfaction of some desk-bound bureaucrat.

    Obviously, Mr. Landsbaum has never had: 1) A manicure, or 2) A nail fungus caused by unsanitary conditions.
