Supervisor Janet Nguyen’s effort to have a secret ballot in today’s sheriff’s vote speaks very poorly of her judgment. Is she afraid to stand up for what she believes in? She either is ignorant of the state’s open meetings law, the Brown Act, or she has complete and utter disdain for open government. Perhaps she should read this brochure on the Brown Act which mandates only open votes with no secret ballots. If Nguyen spent more time thinking about her political philosophy and less time worrying about how her votes will play in the political arena, she might actually accomplish something on the board. Now that her re-election has been secured, she has little at risk at doing so.

I think it’s a little bit of both, honestly: ignorance and arrogance at the same time.
Come on, SG. You’ve been a big Janet Nguyen fan from the time of her first election. You supported her efforts to retain her seat when it was in trouble. You’ve been one of her biggest cheerleaders. And now she votes against your favorite sheriff candidate and all the sudden she becomes a bad girl. Listen, she was elected and reelected and you got what you wished for. If you want someone to blame look in the mirror.
OCobserver,
Actually, I’ve written good and critical things about Nguyen. I was never a cheerleader for her, although I thought she was unfairly harassed by Mike Schroeder and company. I will continue to write good things about her when she does the right thing and bad things about her when she does the wrong thing. It’s as simple as that. Her behavior today was shameless.
SG -
Did you or did you not endorse Nguyen’s election and reelection? If not, whom did you support?
Don’t get me wrong. I think JN is a terrible representative for her district. Her communication skills are horrible. It’s extremely difficult for her to express an idea clearly. It diminishes the respect people have for the Board as a whole.
But once you support a candidate you have to take some responsibility for your own choice.
I did not endorse Janet. We don’t endorse candidates.
Janet continues to read from a script as if she’s some sort of puppet handled by Andrew Do. Her communication skills are so poor she didn’t even know she insulted the entire Sheriffs Department, even when Supervisor Campbell pointed it out to her. It wasn’t until her staff/handlers pointed it out that she finally issued a formal apology.
Sooner or later this woman is going to have to show real leadership and ability. Unfortunately it looks like it’s going to be later.
Worrying about Janet takes a lot of time. Give her a break!
