Newly appointed Sheriff Sandra Hutchens got some attention for her support from former-Mike-Carona-supporter Ronald Cedillos, as Frank Mickadeit explains here. Frank argues that Cedillos wants to make amends for the Carona disaster. Can’t blame him. Everyone who supported Carona ought to make amends. (Funny thought: Mike Schroeder, aka the OC GOP’s Darth Vader, making amends for anything!)
By the way, Cedillos is managing partner of a development firm that “specializes in the siting, entitlement, design and construction of state-of-the-art community based correctional facilities (CBCF) for both government agencies and private operators.” One of his project partners is Lou Blanas, the former Sacramento County sheriff who got in hot water for his concealed-carry policies. Hutchens already has announced new policies in that regard.
After Blanas’ retirement announcement in 2006, the Sacramento Bee wrote: “On his watch, the litany of near disasters in the sheriff’s department grew day by day — a rash of jail suicides, a costly lawsuit over strip searches, dysfunction in the jail’s health care system, dangerous staffing shortages both on patrol and in the jails, charges of deputy brutality, ethnic profiling in traffic stops, a rebellion among cities which broke contracts with the sheriff because of soaring costs. There are more, but that list will do for purposes of illustration.”
Cedillos’ jail-development firm, Sierra Partners, describes Blanas as “one of the most respected law enforcement leaders in the country.” That may be true, but Blanas wasn’t too well respected by the Bee.
Another partner, William Stonich, retired as an undersecretary for LA County Sheriff Lee Baca.
We’ll see what influence Cedillos, Blanas and others have on the new sheriff.

Perhaps in the future I will try to support the candidate that I don’t want to win. While I cannot speak for others, I can tell you that I do not and will not have any “influence” with the new sheriff. I find it interesting that some can’t accept at face value that I supported a person whom I thought would do a good job and of equal importance, had no political indebtedness in the county. I respect those who supported Chief Walters and the reasons they gave for doing so - I simply had never met the Chief and did not know anything about him.
With regards to my firm, we have NEVER developed a county project, but perhaps I should look at it inasmuch so many think there’s a great deal of opportunity there.
From the looks of your site it doesn’t look like you’ve developed much of anything….looks like you could use the extra $$$ that a % of $200M could bring.
I just Glad that Loser and no honesty&Integerity Jack Anderson will no longer be running the Department as he did Nothing to help Rank&File Deputies. He only cared about trying to impress Moorlach by trying to Sell out the Deputies. But that didn’t help as Moorlach saw what a Loser he was and didn’t even vote for him.New Sheriff Hutchens will be such a Improvement over Anderson as she seems to be someone who cares for the Deputies not like Anderson who only enjoyed Firing Deputies!!!!!
18Vetern,
Get a clue. The deputies that Anderson fired were bad cops. Some of them resigned rather than be fired. I am glad every one of them is out of the Sheriff’s Department.

Art–do you know these deputies professionally? Personally? No, so once again, you have no idea what you are talking about. Go back to your rubber room, your meds are wearing off.
Why do you think so many governors, senators, university presidents and others have gone to Cedillos all these years? He has been one of the state’s premier problem solvers for a couple of decades. When California was in a deep recession, I remember who the governor called to help Peter Uberroth develop an economic development plan for the state. Yup, it was Cedillos. When one of California’s major universities was in desperate need of a new president and the stakeholders couldn’t agree on an appointee, who did they call to chair their search committee and solve the problem? Yup, it was Cedillos. Who almost single handily reversed the exit of a major California industry? Yup, it was Cedillos. Who do you think it was the Boy Scouts went to to raise almost a million dollars to save an inner city youth program? You got it, Cedillos.
When a low income urban elementary school couldn’t fund its math and science programs, who ended up raising the funds from private sources to continue the programs? There’s Cedillos again.
When all of the local and state legislators of a major Southern California city couldn’t get a much needed Enterprise Zone designation, who did they go to for help? Yup, same guy, Cedillos. When the boarder states were at odds over joint policy issues, who did the governor send as a delegate to the Boarder Governor’s Conference to help solve the problem? You got, Cedillos.
Who was one of the youngest recipients of an Honorary Doctorate from a major California university for his work on behalf of charities throughout the state while still in his thirties? You got it again, Cedillos.
So it doesn’t surprise me that others went to Cedillos for help to get an independent sheriff appointed for this county. He’s been one of the major “go to guys” in this state for as long as I can remember.
jmb123-How much did Cedillos pay you to write this and how did he manage to get the check to you that far up his colon?

================================
Your basic GED educated government moron. Usually working in LE.
Oh Madigan. All of the info on Cedillos is verifiable. We’re just tired of you trashing the guy, But oh my, we forgot, Mike Carona and Joe Cavallo are your sources for information according to your statements elsewhere. So keep doing the bidding for Carona cause Cedillos worked to get him out and we’ll keep tracking you and responding to your “twisted” comments.
BTW Madigan, why don’t you share with everyone how many times you’ve helped anyone in this state or county. Or do you find it more useful to sit around (I imagine you in your tighty whities at your computer with your gut hanging out) and badmouth everyone instead of offering a single constructive comment. Oh yeah, that probably requires some sort of original thought.
Carona is history and his pal Cavallo, well you know his story, aren’t around anymore to be your secret “sources” so what will you ever do pray tell?
Jim Amorimino . . . pullleeeze. Go give it up chubbs.
Hey Madigan, we’ll issue you a public apology and cease and desist if you can provide us with a single substantive contribution you’ve made to our community. Now now Michael, it must be verifiable so no fibbing.
Oh yeah, you root out corruption in law enforcement; but how do you square that with Carona being your source for information? And, what about your late night telephone calls with Cavallo? Ohhhh he’s such a stand up citizen.
Waddda guy you are Madigan.
Art as USUAL you have no idea what your talking about as you no nothing except what you read in the paper about the department. No not all the deputies desereved to be fired but Anderson did it just to Please MOORLACH. Also get the facts right some of the Deputies as still on Admin leave while the case is being investigated so they have NOT been Fired. Guess you missed this little fact. Good Job again ART!!!!
What? Mike Madigan of “twisted” thoughts couldn’t come up with a single contribution? We wonder how your slimy website will continue without your pals Carona and Cavallo around anymore to feed you their bulls—- information.
You guys are awfully, awfully defensive–but you have every reason to be. You should worry less about Madigan and more that Madigan is not the only one with information on our friend Saint Ron of Laguna Niguel.
