Corn likker stinks

July 3rd, 2008, 3:00 pm · Post a Comment · posted by by Alan Bock, Register editorial writer

Neighbors of the Pacific Ethanol plant in Burley in Idaho have urged the city council to issue a legal warning because, not to put too fine a point on it, the place stinks. It apparently has done so since opening in the Spring. One councilman said, “I can’t tell if it’s wet dog food or what, but it stinks. Where I am, it’s either ethanol or manure, and right now, I’ll take the manure.” Worse than manure? The council agreed to issue a warning from the city attorney’s office telling the company to deal with the smell within 10 days or face further legal action. Jail time is a remote possibility.
