Here is today’s Register editorial about the four members of the Fullerton City Council who are not only trying to push forward a 25-percent pension spike for city employees, but are trying to keep the public in the dark as they do so. These council members are RINOs Don Bankhead and Dick Jones and Democrats Sharon Quirk and Pam Keller. Shawn Nelson, a Republican, is opposed to this plan. Nelson wants to find a legislative sponsor for a bill that would require cities to at least tell the public when they are negotiating for pension increases with public employees. The agenda item in the Fullerton closed session simply mentions contract negotiations, and the pro-pension-spike council members and city staff have done all they can do to stealthily increase these benefits. Nelson’s legislative idea is a good one. Certainly, the public should at least know the nature of the deals being cut behind closed doors. Nelson is NOT suggesting that the details of the negotiations be made public during the deal-making. Who can object?

NELSON IS FISHING FOR VOTES!! I wish you people would get the facts right. How can your paper keep publishing errors on the same topic day after day. Are you just taking Nelson’s word for it? Bad idea! The increase is .5% in PERS. It changes from 2.0% to 2.5% which is at or below what every other city in the county currently has. And City of Fullerton employees are paying for the increase from their salaries. WAKEUP OC REGISTER! Print the truth and the whole truth.
This will never work, the dirty politicians and the slimeball unions would lose their scams if this ever passed.
Here’s an interesting note. I was at a closed session where the council was discussing the increase and guess who didn’t show up until there was 5 minutes left in the session?? That’s right “Councilman” Nelson….
I agree with Greenhut. Why can’t the council just be up front with us? Tthey don’t want to tell us about the pension increase until the last possible moment.
Does IluvFullerton not know that 2.5% is 25% larger than 2.0%? If we have to start explaining basic math to these idiots there is no sense discussing the matter.
