So far, calm and banal

Before the veep debate, the hype suggested that either Sarah Palin would look like a blithering idiot or Biden would say something really stupid, but it was pretty much a straightforward event. No big gaffes, etc. And so on this second presidential debate, the hype suggested that this would be a tough, go-for-the-jugular events. So far, both candidates are doing well, but they’ve each only taken muted jabs at each other. Both seem to agree on the need for bipartisanship, on the basics of the financial crisis and on global warming. No fireworks, though. I’m glad McCain is talking about a spending freeze, but he’s taking defense and many other major items off the table. Yawn.
