Tackiest email of the year!

October 31st, 2008, 12:22 pm · 6 Comments · posted by Steven Greenhut

As the newspaper has reported, the Register is undergoing some layoffs, which has become increasingly typical in the newspaper industry. I just got this email from a research editor at something called the Cision media directory:

“Good afternoon,

“My name is Ann and I work for Cision media directory. I am sorry to hear that the paper is about to go through some layoffs. Could you please tell me if you will be leaving the paper soon? I need to remove contacts that will be leaving the paper. If you are not leaving, please let me know.

“Any assistance is greatly appreciated …”

Is it me, or is this really, really tacky?
