Local Democratic Reps. Linda and Loretta Sanchez are on the list of House members under some stage of investigation by the House ethics committee in the memo released yesterday either indvertently or by a low-level staffer (often Washingtonspeak for whistleblower). The possible violation is some sort of collusion, as Linda Sanchez reportedly put three of Loretta’s staffers on her payroll after an embezzlement scheme left Loretta’s office short of funds.

Whether that was all that wrong seems to be in question. The Sanchez sisters say they sought advice from the ethics panel, and the WaPo reports that the leaked memo shows that the committee was ready to do a “closeout letter” on the case, which probably means no disciplinary action was likely to be taken.

Still haven’t seen a complete list of those mentioned in the memo, but of the 13 profiled by the WaPo (which doesn’t include the Sanchez sisters), 8 are Democrats and 5 Republicans.
